Hostels are magnificent places where anything can happen. They're places of endless possibilities, but... a lot of those possibilities are also far from ideal 🤨 Sometimes people barge into the dorm at 3 AM and flick the lights open. Or they eat the food with YOUR name on it. Pay close attention, because if you've never met the hostel asshole, you might BE the hostel asshole.
Things don't really work out in hostels unless everyone is doing their part. And that's why they have unwritten rules. The so-called hostel etiquette. Hostel etiquette dictates simple but very important things, like the fact that sleep is sacred, or that sex is only fun for the people having it (debatable). The fact of the matter is that if you're going hostelling around the world, you're going hostelling to make friends. But you can't really make friends if you're the resident hostel butthead! So you should read up on all of the must-know rules to avoid being the hostel butthead. And then you'll be in the clear.
