Experiencing Thailand's wildest party

Most people travelling in Thailand go to Koh Phangan for the (in)famous Full Moon Party. It’s been a backpacking rite of passage for a while.

But somewhere on the island, hidden away from the neon madness and the buckets of vodka Red Bull, there is a much BETTER (and far more interesting) party waiting for you.

The Eden Garden Party is a psychedelic gathering of sorts, one that happens deep in the jungle, far from the judgemental and watchful eye of the masses.

The vibe is closer to what the Full Moon Party was before it became what it is now: smaller, stranger, and far more about the music.

It is not quite as easy to reach, and it definitely requires some preparation, but it's a crazy experience that is absolutely worth the effort.

Disclaimer: this is a real island party, not a tourist attraction.

The big beach parties in Haad Rin are wild, chaotic, and fun in their own way. But Eden is different.

Part of the magic is the setting. Eden Bar sits above Haad Yuan, tucked into jungle-covered rocks with the ocean crashing below.

The dance-floor spills out into the trees, people drift between the bar and the rocks overlooking the water, and as the night rolls on the crowd settles into a rhythm that carries straight through to sunrise.

The music is a combo of deep and progressive house, minimal techno and psychedelic-flavoured electronica.

But it’s worth saying this: getting there takes effort, the facilities are kinda basic and things can get messy, weird, and occasionally dangerous.

If you're interested in experiencing this for yourself, our guide covers everything you need to know... the vibe, the music, the crowd, how to get there, and what to expect once the night properly begins.
