For years, whispers of this captivating country have been circulating in the backpacking community, and it’s high time we confirm the rumours. The secret's out, folks… Albania is IN.
Introducing: Albania 🤩Albania is an adventurer's paradise, brimming with hiking, biking, rafting and so much more. Not to mention its dazzling coastline that rivals its famous neighbours - Greece, Montenegro, and Croatia. The only catch is that you’re gonna want to haul yo’ ass there before the rest of the riff-raff catch wind of it. I won’t sit here and tell you that it’s just like heading to the south of Italy or a Greek Island because it’s not. Albania has a chaotic charm that seems to just about work. It’s got that rough-around-the-edges kinda vibe to it that us adventurous souls are drawn to. The Albanian culture is rich and so unique. The hospitality is some of the best in the world, and they have the food to match. The country is nearly 50% Muslim, so you’ll find the coffee shops are almost as pumping as the bars. Plus, a trip to Albania will cost you a fraction of what you’d expect to spend in other European countries.
But is it safe? 😬The country has been through a lot in its recent history - to say the least, so asking the question of whether Albania is safe to travel is not uncommon and is why the country hasn’t seen so many tourists. However, Albania is just as safe as the rest of Europe these days. They have come a long way, and you can sense their appreciation of the uptick in tourism. So, if you’re keen to see the best of Europe on the CHEAP, Albania is welcoming us backpackers in with a warm hug, cheap beer and a decent selection of hostels.
