On the road again ❤️

Ahoy Reader,

It’s been a big month behind the scenes as I gear up to launch two new projects I’ve been working on in the wings…

1. Adventure tours to Baja in Mexico, Pakistan and Albania! These will be real-life, boots-on-the-ground adventures led by me and The Broke Backpacker team. Super stoked for this, the website will be live soon and you'll be the first to know 😉

2. A hippy-dippy shop where I'll sell the half tonne of crystals I bought at a gem show back in January. After months of paperwork and chaos, they've set sail upon the high seas and are soon arriving at my home in Bali.

This'll be my first retail business, and I’m sooo keen to see what I can learn! I actually know quite a lot about crystals and have bought and sold them before, but never on a large scale and never with physical premises - new horizons beckon!

More Highlights

I spent most of last month soaking up the rare and glorious English summer. It's always good to be home :)

Here are some of my favourite memories:

  • Rambling through the Cotswolds
  • Catching up with friends and family all over the country (especially my brother from another mother and my brother from the same mother, both pictured below).
  • Philosophising and talking 'if you could go back in time to X period' around fires under the stars...
  • Losing all my belongings on a train in Manchester and getting them back 2 days later after knocking on a few doors (thanks, AirTag! - Seriously, put an AirTag in all your backpacks).
  • Building a bird box with my dad, and hiking with my adorable mother.

The past month went by super fast, but it was as beautiful as it was both muddy and sunny. It’s been a welcome pause before I hit the road again…

In a few days, I’m off to Slovenia for a week-long hut-to-hut hike through the Julian Alps, then onto Croatia for a coastal road trip, and finally to Cyprus for wedding #3 of the season and hopefully the last one for a bit.

Stay single, folks! (Because I ain't doing 3 weddings in a summer again!).

Excited to head to Momma Bali again once all that travel dust settles.

Keep chasing the weird stuff.

Ditch Your Desk and join me in Bali. Click to learn more. Right, folks... Today's email comes with a bit of a reality check. I’ve written plenty of love letters to some of the world’s most beautiful places (and to some of the world's most beautiful people too). But it's good to play villain for a change. So I'm here with some hard truths today: Not every country is worth your hard-earned cash. Not every city deserves your holiday days. Some places SUCKS and you're better off skipping them...

Ditch Your Desk and join me in Bali this October. Click to learn more. Today's email is about crying. More specifically: crying at roaming charges. Now, that may sound silly, but if you've ever had to resort to your native SIM's mobile data to sort things out abroad... Then you may have also been charged hundreds of dollars for it. And you may, too, have cried over your roaming charges. Bring back the brick. I’ve tried just about every trick to stay connected on the road — local SIM cards,...
