The Broke Backpacker started in 2011 as a team of one. Led by Will, it didn’t take long until the site became a staple for in-depth guides covering some of the world’s wildest destinations. Fifteen years and 50 million readers later, The Broke Backpacker has grown into a full-fledged team of writers and editors under new management - but Will remains part of the family and his adventurous spirit hasn’t gone anywhere. Here’s where TBB is today looking forward. Will has something he wants to share with you. Over to him! A message from the OG Broke BackpackerAhoy Reader, Will Hatton here! You probably know me as the guy who spent years living out of a tent, hitchhiking across continents and writing about it as The OG Broke Backpacker. A lot has changed since those early days travelling on $10 a day. I’ve started over thirty businesses, failed spectacularly at a good chunk of them, and had to give myself more midnight pep-talks than I care to remember. Along the way I battled LSD-crazed monkeys (or maybe it was me that was trippin’), self-doubt and toxic self-talk, and more than a few brushes with addiction and rock bottom. I rebuilt my life with a set of hard-won systems and forged a future I’m genuinely grateful to be living every day. The time has now come to share these systems, as they’re honestly the best thing I’ve ever made! Introducing; Forge Your Future (on Substack), where I’m writing about all of it… Building businesses on the road, sustaining the digital nomad lifestyle long-term, and the frameworks I use to keep my shit together when there’s no routine and no safety net.
