Backpacking the Winter Olympics ⛷

I've always loved the idea of travelling for the sake of going to an event.

The idea that something means so much to you that you'll plan an entire trip around it, just to make it happen... that's very special!

And over the years, I've been lucky to be able to travel for gigs, festivals, and even sports competitions.

As we approach 2026, there is a major event on traveller radars: the Winter Olympics. And it's happening soon.

Where do you stay? How do you get around? And how can you stretch your budget without missing any of the excitement?

All great questions, Reader, and all answered here:

More on the Olympics

The Winter Olympics will take place in the north of Italy, where the mountains are grand and the espressos fine and strong.

It will pass through major cities like Milan and Verona, as well as epic mountain towns such as Livigno, Bormio, and Val di Fiemme.

And while some people hate the thought of going there at that time, I know some of y'all like to be right in the action!

So if you're planning a trip to Italy and are into winter sports, definitely look into it:

I'll never understand the latter (and I'm from England!!), but some people do really love the cold...

And if you're one of those maniacs, I suggest you cuddle up with a warm blanket and a hot cuppa, and read through this list for inspiration:

And for the normal people who might be looking for a temperature increase in the winter months, I present thee:

I know a cool dude when I see one. And the story I'm about to tell you is about a cool ass motherfucker. The kind you don't see very often. If you’re lucky enough to work remotely, you’ve probably had a moment where you bounced around for a bit, half-pretending you weren’t on holiday (at least to your boss, because you were definitely on hol). You felt freer, you felt cooler, and you probably worked with the kind of view that can make anyone jealous. It's the type of experience that makes you...

Ahoy, friends! And Happy New Year :) Every January, we tend to promise ourselves that things will be different. This is usually an opportunity to think about what we want to change, what we want more of in our lives, and what we want to ditch (or at least try). I personally love a bit of reflection, as you may very well know, so I've been doing a lot of it over the past couple of weeks. A lot of it boils down to the desire of: More meaning. More connections. More stories worth telling....

2025 has been one of the most amazing years, Reader. But it's been fast, real fast... time has shot on by as I've gallivanted all over, spending time in a dozen countries over 2025. I’ve bounced between Canada, England, Slovenia, America, Mexico, Croatia, Montenegro, Cyprus and several other places I can't quite remember. I hit up three weddings and several reunions in Europe, spoke at TBEX (a travel blogging conference) about how I made a few $$$$$$$ over the last few years, and perfected my...
