Camping keeps things simple, wild, and wonderfully cheap. There’s no better feeling than swapping four walls for a thin little piece of fabric and a night sky full of stars. Whether you're taking it to a hidden forest spot, a festival field (festival season is on, baby!) or, even better, a stretch of beach with no other humans in sight... Dust off your tent and roll it out somewhere nice. I've got a few tips to make your next camping adventure spectacular. 1 - Pack once, check twiceEveryone knows a solid camping trip can go south fast if your kit sucks - or if you leave half of it at home. Make sure you don't leave your house without packing all your camping essentials. Everyone camps differently, of course, but there are a few guiding principles that apply to everyone. Tick them off, pack smart, and never be the person who turns up without a headtorch again 😡 Check out The Broke Backpacker's ultimate camping checklist.
2 - Pick a tent you can trustI’ve slept in more tents than I can count — some sturdy enough to survive Himalayan winds, others that could barely survive a drizzle in Cornwall. If you’re spending your nights outdoors, your tent is your lifeline. And good tents can be expensive. I know, it hurts me too. But it's a worthy investment - unless you're camping at a festival for a weekend and you're super tight on cash. In which case, just get a cheap pop-up tent on Amazon and be done with it. We tested and rounded up the best travel tents so you didn't have to. Go and have a crack at it!
3 - Look out for funky gadgetsWhat you see above is a camping lighter. But it's also a power bank... and a portable fan... And 10 other things! It's called the Aecooly CamperKit, and camping-gadget lovers are losing their minds about it. We get sent a bunch of cool gadgets (because we're cool like that). Check out our gear archives for more of that.
