The Sacred Valley is a multicoloured patchwork of ancient ruins, vibrant markets and dramatic mountains in Peru. Most visitors will end up here during their visit to Machu Picchu, but few will actually stay and properly explore the region. Last year, I spent six weeks exploring here by motorbike and oh boy - I had one of the best trips of my life! Trekking in Peru: Yes or Yes?I've hiked in a LOT of places throughout my life, but Peru is definitely sitting at the big boy table with Pakistan and the rest of the crew. A lot of people follow the Inca Trail to reach Machu Picchu, and while it is certainly epic, there is another one you should keep on your radar. With much fewer people and even better views throughout, the Salkantay Trek has the potential to be the adventure of a lifetime. It's not a beginner-friendly trail, as it's got a max elevation of 15,190 feet (4630 meters) but if you're active and used to a little hike here and there, you'll do fine :) Check out our review, including a day-by-day breakdown, so you can plan your trip accordingly:
And if you're curious about hiking in general, we've got a wonderful guide too on how to plan a hiking trip abroad. You felt freer, you felt cooler, and you probably worked with the kind of view that can make anyone jealous. It's the type of experience that makes you...
Ahoy, friends! And Happy New Year :) Every January, we tend to promise ourselves that things will be different. This is usually an opportunity to think about what we want to change, what we want more of in our lives, and what we want to ditch (or at least try). I personally love a bit of reflection, as you may very well know, so I've been doing a lot of it over the past couple of weeks. A lot of it boils down to the desire of: More meaning. More connections. More stories worth telling....
2025 has been one of the most amazing years, Reader. But it's been fast, real fast... time has shot on by as I've gallivanted all over, spending time in a dozen countries over 2025. I’ve bounced between Canada, England, Slovenia, America, Mexico, Croatia, Montenegro, Cyprus and several other places I can't quite remember. I hit up three weddings and several reunions in Europe, spoke at TBEX (a travel blogging conference) about how I made a few $$$$$$$ over the last few years, and perfected my...
