A taste of the sacred valley 🐉

The Sacred Valley is a multicoloured patchwork of ancient ruins, vibrant markets and dramatic mountains in Peru.

Most visitors will end up here during their visit to Machu Picchu, but few will actually stay and properly explore the region.

Last year, I spent six weeks exploring here by motorbike and oh boy - I had one of the best trips of my life!

Trekking in Peru: Yes or Yes?

I've hiked in a LOT of places throughout my life, but Peru is definitely sitting at the big boy table with Pakistan and the rest of the crew.

A lot of people follow the Inca Trail to reach Machu Picchu, and while it is certainly epic, there is another one you should keep on your radar.

With much fewer people and even better views throughout, the Salkantay Trek has the potential to be the adventure of a lifetime.

It's not a beginner-friendly trail, as it's got a max elevation of 15,190 feet (4630 meters) but if you're active and used to a little hike here and there, you'll do fine :)

Check out our review, including a day-by-day breakdown, so you can plan your trip accordingly:
