The Art of Travel Storytelling

There is one simple rule to the whole travel storytelling thing:

You need to make people feel like they’re there with you.

It's not complicated, right?

Pull the reader in. Take them for a ride.

But how the hell does one learn to do that?

Crafting Stories That Inspire

I started travelling and telling stories on the Internet sometime around 2010.

Back then, things were quite different. Facebook was still in its early days, and TikTok was but a distant dream (a nightmare for some, I'd say).

And then there was I, writing notes on a trusted iPod Touch, sending out a funny newsletter with updates on my travels to about 20-30 people.

I was telling stories mostly to friends and family.

But one day, it evolved.

I created The Broke Backpacker blog. I dove deep into backwater India and wrote about what I found with a humurous, positive, find the funny vibe.

And that very same newsletter sent out to a mere 30 souls is now shared amongst 30,000 people - thanks to you, so cheers ❤️

As for me, I'm signing off now and getting ready for a long journey back to my home in Bali.

After a hectic (but really wholesome) summer travelling around Europe and Canada, with 3 weddings in the mix, I'm excited to dive back into my routines. And to see my pups, whom I miss dearly!

It's time to lock in again, to focus on myself, to keep building Tribal hostels, and to work on the new Elsewheria adventure tours that I'll be leading next year... there is lots to be excited about!
