In 2024, over 6 million people visited The Broke Backpacker. That’s a wild number to wrap my head around! It is truly humbling to think about how far we’ve come since the site was first registered twelve years ago and how many travellers we’ve helped along the way. Between those searching for actionable destination advice, general travel inspiration, or just photos of a younger me naked on a tropical island. This is no joke. 6 million visitors is a lot of people reading our tasty backpacking guides, planning out their own adventures or educating themselves on how to make money whilst on the road. I am so crazy proud of everything we have built with The Broke Backpacker and whilst right now is an incredibly challenging time for travel blogging (with many blogs ceasing to exist after unfavourable algo updates sends more and more traffic towards AI generated answers). You're different than these millions of readers, Reader. Because you’re here, reading this email. You're closer. You can reply to this and we can actually chat. And honestly, connecting with readers and fellow travelers has been one of my favourite parts of this entire journey. ❤️ But as you know, The Broke Backpacker keeps all its travel info free—every guide, every hack, every weird story from the road. And it has since its inception way back when. We fund our adventures through ads, affiliate partnerships, and through our own pockets honestly.
